Alex is a BACP registered substance misuse and compulsive behaviour therapist with experience working in Cape Town, Belgium and London. Integrating person-centred and existential approaches to therapy with evidence based and trauma informed techniques, he works to create a safe space in which he and his clients can explore, challenge, and change their behaviours and lives.
After moving to Cape Town during his own recovery journey Alex completed a diploma in counselling and a postgraduate diploma in addiction care, then worked in a variety of inpatient and outpatient treatment settings, helping clients to put their lives back together. He is currently undertaking an MProf in Existential Psychotherapy.
Alex has a particular interest in self-compassion, resilience, and trauma-informed therapy. He works collaboratively with clients to help them develop a healthier relationship with themselves and others, fostering greater connection, presence, and engagement in their lives and relationships.
Alex places strong value on the therapeutic relationship, believing that meaningful change occurs through collaboration, trust, and attuned support. He recognises that each client’s journey is unique and works flexibly alongside individuals through the challenges that therapeutic growth can involve.
